Fawell found guilty
A federal jury convicted Scott Fawell and George Ryan's campaign of racketeering. Fawell, chief of staff in Ryan's secretary of state administration, also was found guilty of corruption crimes that included stealing government funds. Prosecutors convinced the jury that Fawell had used staff and financial resources of the secretary of state's office to advance Ryan's gubernatorial campaign.
